End-of-the-Season Party for Farm League Red Sox

The end-of-the-season party for our team will be at noon on Sat., May 30, 2009 following the boys’ 10:30 game in a party room at the Recreation Department (on Enzor Road next to the Sportsplex). Note that this is NOT our last game but we want to make sure to catch everyone before the season completely ends and people scatter. We are having the party in one of the rooms there to make sure that there is room for the families of the players. We’ve had such great family support for our team. Also, Coach David wants to say a little something to each boy and thought this location would allow each player a good opportunity to really hear him.

The cost of everything will be $20 per child.

It will include:

  • Trophy
  • Pizza for the party for the player(Additional family members who would like to eat with the team can pay $3 per person which will include a drink. Just let the coach know how many to expect from your family when you pay.)
  • Room rental for the party
  • Tokens of our appreciation for the coaches.

We’re looking forward to this special time with everyone. For those of you who are unable to make it, we’ll have your player’s trophy at our last game.

GO RED SOX!

RED SOX win going away...

The Red Sox took control of their game with the Reds in the middle innings and never looked back as they went on to win by a score of 14-9. The Red Sox maintained a comfortable 10 run lead going into the last inning. With the game in hand, the coaches moved some players around so that some of the younger guys could get some infeild experience. Next year, all the infielders (except for Parker Sessions and Walker Stallworth) will move to up to the machine pitch league. Therefore, it is important that get some of the younger guys gain experience before next season.

The Red Soxs do not play again for a number of days. If the players have a chance to practice at home...please do so!

Go RED SOX!

Red Sox lose a hearbreaker to the ASTROS....

For the second time this year, the Red Sox came up just short in beating one of the two undefeated teams in the league. Last Friday night, the Red Sox lost 15-14 in a thriller. The boys played great and should be proud. Tonight (TUES - May 12) the Red Sox will face the Reds in what should be another close contest. The game will begin at 5:45. Players should be there by 5:15 if possible.

Red Sox win thriller in extra innings...

On Friday night, the Red Sox found themselves in a battle with the Tigers. Going into the bottom of the last inning, the Red Sox were ahead 12-8. The tigers scored 4 runs to tie the game and the winning run was on third with the bases loaded with only one out. After a Tiger strikeout, Parker Sessions caught a fly ball to end the threat. In the extra inning the Red Sox scored 2 runs and lead 14-12 as the Tigers came to bat. The Tigers were only able to get a runner on third as the Red Sox recoreded the last out. Message from Coach David...

In each baseball season, coaches have to draw once again for practice times when the games begin. That time for Farm League coaches was last night before our game and we were able to secure practice times each week on Saturday mornings at 10:30 on Field #2 at the SportsPlex. That being said, after giving it some thought...
WE WILL NOT HAVE PRACTICE THIS SATURDAY MORNING due to the number of people going out of town for the Easter weekend. So take some time this week for yourself ~ spend some time in reflection on who you are and what God has done for you in Christ. That's more important than any ballgame...
We will meet for our third game of the season on Tuesday night at 5:45 on Field #6 against the Cubs. Please make every effort to be there early so that we have a proper head count and positions filled on the roster. Our kids are really hitting well... we are going to do just fine this season.
By the way, I want you to know about why I am giving out game balls this season. Being that this is my first time head coaching, I wanted to find ways that are unique to encourage your kids and reward them for their efforts and attitudes. Each of your children will receive a game ball, purposefully, because I think it important that each team member know how special and important they are to the team... and because I believe that encouragement is the very heart of coaching. Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
Best regards,
Coach David

Red Sox lose a close game against the Phillies...

The Red Sox led throughout the game, but were unable to hold on in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Phillies came back to win a thriller 9-8. Our team should hold their heads high...it was cold...and we were playing the last year's league champions. The coaches and the parents are very proud of our team! You always find out more about your team after a loss - I know the kids will bounce back and play harder next time! GO RED SOX!

Don't Forget!! We get to play the Phillies again in the last game of the year!

GAME AWARDS -

The game ball went to Logan Johnson (he hit a homerun) and the best Sportsmanship award (wristband) went to D'Alveon. Good job guys!
